Rideau Corridor Landscape Character Assessment Workshop
Perth, August 15, 2012

Parks Canada has announced an upcoming meeting in Perth on the Rideau and Tay Canals, on August 15 (7:00pm, at the Lions Club Hall) that will be of interest to many in the Perth area. Dillon Consultants will present an update on the status of the Rideau Canal Landscape Strategy study - a requirement of the UNESCO Heritage Site Designation of our Tay Canal, with the Rideau, in 2007.

This is the first, and it will be the only, public consultation on the canal Landscape Strategy to take place in our area, and with a focus on the Tay Canal portion of the system. As part of the presentation, there will be an opportunity for participation in an interactive survey.

Securing recognition for the historic Tay Canal in this important study has been a priority for the Town and other local organisations over the past two years. Having Perth selected as one of the current workshop sites is a major step.

The Parks Canada report coming out of this study will become a UNESCO document that guides the visual protection of the Rideau system for the future. This is an excellent opportunity for residents to hear about the status of this initiative - and, should you wish, to have your interests heard and included.

Further information may be seen at www.RCLS-SACR.ca

Please join us for an interesting evening at the Lions Hall, Perth Fairgrounds, Arthur Street (6:30 registration), meeting 7:00 to 8:30pm.
